Dr. Gus Teixeira is from São Paulo, Brazil. He studied in the United States, and graduated from South High School, in Denver, Colorado, where he first learned about schools with special needs programs. He got his medical degree at the age of 25, and went on with his studies through the Psychiatry Institute of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He is also specialized in Chemical Addiction through Federal University of São Paulo, and in Child Psychiatry through Santa Casa Hospital in Rio de Janeiro.

Dr. Teixeira is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the most noted and renowned international association of specialized child and adolescent psychiatrists and member of the Brazilian Association of Child Neurology and Psychiatry. He works as a child and adolescent psychiatrist in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Devoted to child and adolescent psychoeducation, Dr. Teixeira lectures and holds meetings at universities and schools, gathering educators, professors, parents, and students in order to discuss themes, such as discipline, drugs, childhood depression, ADHD, anxiety, among others. 

Dr. Teixeira is an international lecturer on inclusion and special education. He has presented more than 100 invited workshops in the past 6 years, including Australia, South Korea, American and British International schools in Brazil and summer courses in United States as a visiting lecturer.

Dr. Gus Teixeira is also a writer and has published three books on psychoeducation and behavior disorders. He has appeared on many nationally televised programs to discuss topics pertaining to psychoeducation, inclusion and special education.
