Dr. Gus Teixeira is from São Paulo, Brazil. He studied in the United States, and graduated from high school at South High School, in Denver, Colorado, where he first learned about schools with special needs programs. He got his medical doctor degree at the age of 25, and went on with his studies through the Psychiatry Institute of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He is also specialized in Chemical Addiction through Federal University of São Paulo, Child Mental Health through Santa Casa Hospital of Rio de Janeiro and has a Master of Education from Framingham State University, Massachusetts.
Dr. Teixeira is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the most noted and renowned international association of specialized child and adolescent psychiatrists, also a member of Harvard Medical School Postgraduate Association and the Brazilian Association of Child Neurology and Psychiatry. He is also visiting professor at the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders - Bridgewater State University, Massachusetts.
Devoted to child and adolescent behavior, Dr. Gustavo Teixeira lectures and holds meetings at universities and schools, gathering educators, professors, parents, and students in order to discuss themes, such as discipline, drugs, depression, bullying, ADHD, anxiety, among others. .
Dr. Teixeira is an international lecturer on inclusion and special education. He has presented more than 100 invited workshops in the past 6 years, including Australia, South Korea, American and British International schools in Brazil and summer courses in United States as a visiting lecturer.
Dr. Gus Teixeira is also a writer and has published three books on psychoeducation and behavior disorders. He has appeared on many nationally televised programs to discuss topics pertaining to psychoeducation, inclusion and special education.
